What is Penetration Grade 60/70

So the penetration grade represents the depth (in tenths of a millimeter) to which a standard needle penetrates the bitumen sample under specified conditions. In the case of Bitumen 60/70, the penetration value is between 60 and 70 at 25°C.

Characteristics Penetration Grade 60/70

Bitumen 60/70 is relatively hard due to its medium penetration grade. Because of its mix of hardness and flexibility, it can be used for many different applications.

Uses and Applications Penetration Grade 60/70

Road Construction: Bitumen 60/70 is frequently utilized in the building of highways and roads. It is a binder in asphalt concrete that gives the road surface sturdiness and strength.
Asphalt mixtures are essential to the manufacturing of hot mix asphalt (HMA) and cold mix asphalt, which are used to pave and maintain roadways.

Waterproofing: Products that are meant to be waterproof are made with a blend of 60/70 bitumen. It is appropriate for uses like waterproofing membranes and roofing because it offers a water-resistant barrier.

Coating and Sealing: Applications requiring coating and sealing employ this grade of bitumen. It prolongs the life of structures and creates a barrier against moisture.
